The smaller hotels and resorts may be located in the country or on the hillside a little further from the beach, but they provide a more economical place to stay for those who don't mind a little extra commute. Some of these hotels and resorts can be as close as ten minutes away from the island's capital, and are just as inviting as the more expensive luxury hotels. For example, these hotels also boast private balconies, pools, and even golf courses.

You can also enjoy the spectacular views and Antigua's gorgeous sunset from an affordable and comfortable location. Some of the smaller hotels are having trouble competing with the larger all-inclusive hotels, because many travelers prefer a package deal when planning their vacation. In response to this, many restaurants are expanding and adding cottages to their properties.
